Custom Portrait FAQs

  • Once you purchase a custom portrait you will receive information about submitting your reference photos and completing a custom portrait questionnaire.

Once I receive both your reference photos and completed questionnaire then I begin working on your portrait.

When the portrait is complete I’ll send you a sample PDF for your review. If there are small changes you’d like to make at this time you can let me know.

I’ll confirm any changes with you and then it’s on to sending you the final PNG (digital file). If you ordered any prints or items featuring your custom portrait, these will be automatically put into production for you at this time.

  • The timeline for receiving your final custom portrait varies throughout the year. When booking, the custom portrait description in the shop should give you an estimate that’s accurate at that time.

Please note, all estimates assume a 1-3 day response time from you when (1) initially completing your questionnaire and sending in reference photos when requested post-purchase, and (2) if requesting any small changes. Delays in your response can lead to delays in the overall timeline.

  • Your custom portrait comes as a digital file.

The digital file is a .png file that is yours to keep and use (for your personal use only - see FAQ for using custom portraits for profit or in your business).

A print is a physical print of the portrait that can be framed or displayed. You can purchase prints and additional charming items featuring your custom portrait in my shop. You can purchase these items at the same time you purchase your portrait or at a later date. Either way, I’ll handle all of it for you along with my trusted printers and production partners.

Or, you can send your digital file to your own printer as long as any prints or items made are for your personal use.

  • At this time I’m only doing solo portraits, but you’re welcome to order more than one portrait! They look lovely framed on a wall as a collection or used together on a holiday card.

  • You will get to see a sample pdf of the final portrait prior to receiving the digital PNG file of the portrait for a “small changes” review. Please see additional FAQ items for more info on the small change review process.

  • There is a single, small changes revision round included with every portrait. It occurs right after I send you a sample pdf of the final portrait. The revision round includes small changes to the portrait. Those changes will be included when you receive the final PNG file. Any change requests after the portrait is completed can be discussed at an additional charge if there is availability to do so.

Small changes include things like shifting a color, tweaking a line, etc. Drawing new elements, redrawing features or accessories, etc are not considered small changes.

  • As part of your custom portrait questionnaire you will identify the colors that you want to be used. All colors can be selected from a pre-determined color palette that harmonize with one another and align to the style of these custom portraits. There are shades and tints of all the basic colors and neutrals available in this color palette, so you’ll be able to find colors to suit your preferences.

  • Once you purchase a custom portrait you will receive instructions on how to send in reference photos along with instructions on how to fill out the questionnaire to share your preferences for the portrait.

  • The questionnaire link will be sent to you post-purchase. It’s not that long but it’s more than just a couple questions. Plus, I don’t want you to have to make a call on the spot for any preference choices. So to keep the stress low and give you time to consider your preferences, the questionnaire link comes along after you checkout via your inbox.

  • The short answer is no.

Your portrait is for your personal use only. If you want to get an extra print to give as a gift to someone, go for it. If you want a mug made with it for your granny or yourself, cool. Want to use it on personal holiday cards? I love it! (Genuinely, I seriously love this last one so please send me a photo of it if you’re willing - it will make my day!)

But if you’re using art that I created to help grow or promote your business then that’s actually something that’s covered under a licensing agreement and is different from this. You can absolutely contact me about doing this … but purchasing it here isn’t the way to go about this.

(Plus, just so you know, you check a little box when you purchase that says you understand and agree that this portrait is for personal use only.)

  • You can request a full refund (minus processing fees) within 72 hours of purchase as long as you haven’t submitted your reference photos and the completed questionnaire.

Once you send/submit your reference photos and questionnaire then work on my end starts, and a refund is no longer available.
