feel good in your skin and uncover your ideal style

Feel Good In Your Skin + Style

You, my friend, deserve to feel good in your skin and style. No, not just good. Amazing. Fabulous. Like your #bestself.

But that can feel hard to accomplish today, right? Feeling good about yourself, your body, your clothes?

It’s not that there’s not enough information out there about how to style yourself. There’s a ton. Too much even! Every magazine and Instagram fashionista and blogger and morning TV style segment and well-meaning friend is giving you tips and suggestions.

It’s not that you haven’t tried. I know you have. You might have given up by this point after years of trying. Or life might have gotten too busy to put in the time you feel it requires. Or you might still be trying and hustling and giving it your all without getting the results you’re hoping for. No, it’s not that you haven’t tried.

It’s not that you just don’t have clothes. I know you have clothes. I bet you have a closet full of clothes and still wake up most days feeling like you have nothing to wear. A lack of clothes is rarely the problem.

What you lack is clarity.

Clarity on your vision for what style you want.

Clarity on how to realize that style.

Clarity on how to make that style work for you simply yet effectively so that you can get on living your life and feeling like your best damn self.

When you lack clarity it’s hard to get the results you want. But there’s so much information out there. And there are so many people getting it “right” that it feels like it must just be you. It’s easy to start to own the missteps and make them a part of who you are. You’re not stylish. You don’t get it. You can’t do it. Only, none of these things are true.

It’s just that you haven’t been taught how to find your style yet (and let me tell you, there isn’t a quiz out there that can do this for you).

But you can find your style. You can feel good in your skin and style. Right now. Just as you are. Without losing weight or getting rid of everything in your closet or starting over from scratch. None of that is necessary.

We just need to get you a little clarity.

If you’re feeling somewhat defeated or unstylish or less than because of how you look and show up, it’s not your fault. I swear to you it isn’t.

You simply haven’t been set up for success before now. Not with how we approach style and fashion right now.

Here’s my take on style and fashion in today’s culture: It’s not very user friendly.

Style appears like it’s user friendly. You have access to everything you could possibly want or seemingly need. You have advice and tips and suggestions coming at you all the time. Never was there more inspiration and freedom to build your style than there is now.

But you’re still shopping all the time. You’re still unhappy with how you look. You’re still searching for your style. You’re still here, on yet another style site, having read this far down on a rather verbose page because … no one has taught you what you actually need to know about style! Because we don’t teach the how in our current culture because the less you know, the more you buy.

Except we do teach designers the how because we need designers to know this. And when it comes to what you wear and how you dress, there are two types of designers and they’re taught very different things.

We teach aspiring fashion designers how to design for the fashion world (Lesson #1: The fashion world is not like the real world you and I live in so treat it accordingly). We teach aspiring costume designers how to design for people. Because that’s what costume designers do - they dress people who have a story to tell and a job to do and life to live on stage and they need to be clothed appropriately.

I was trained as a costume designer only my characters don’t exist on the stage anymore. Nowadays my characters are everyday women like you. And my job isn’t just to clothe you but to teach you how to clothe yourself in a way that makes you feel good in your skin and style.
